Greetings
Hello all
I am considering buying the Guild wars series and specifically the first Guild wars. But I am wondering whether there are people playing the first Guild wars. I don't want to buy the first Guild Wars and end up all alone So, could anyone give me some ideas about how many players are still playing Guild Wars and specifically the first one? Thanks |

Uhm, I just started a new Tyrian toon two months ago, And I never had trouble finding a PUG for missions. Definitely less than when only Prophecies was out, but that is to be expected. There are probably 2 million or so people playing Guild Wars. So if you find a nice guild, you won't be alone .

Look around for a social PvE guild. They will usually help you out and do things with you, even if you are new.

There are still plenty of people around. Overall, it won't be as full as Nightfall, since Prophecies is the first installation; however, there are entire communities dedicated to staying in Pre-Searing (beginner area in Propheces) and people who are there for the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title (Level 20, max level in the beginner area - not recommended at all for first time players).

My only concern is the low level cap
But seeing the skills and having tried guild wars already last year, I think it should be fine, although ..... |

Don't let the lvl 20 cap fool you. The game truly begins at level 20.

Plenty people still there (you will see less in the coming weeks do to the release of GW-EN) They are actively recruiting PVE members in the Guild Section of this forum. Do not feel pressure to join if you do not want to. You can play solo or just a pickup group. Good luck to you see you in tyria

I would actually recommend Prophecies and Nightfall. That way you can get heroes (which have the advantage of being flagged to locations individually, among many even greater advantages). There are a few places in propheces where the number of people is low, especially in some of the crystal desert missions. If that's the case, just load up some heroes and you are good to go. Overall, however, there are still plenty of people in nearly the entire game, regardless of which campaign you get.

Well, I got Prophecies and Factions.
Now I just need to figure if I can use my character from Prophecies in Factions or would I need to create a new one for Factions |

I think that you've probably already started a character, but I usually recommend Prophecies first, since you can get most of the skills from that campaign from quests instead of buying them like you have to in Factions and NF (though you can also learn them from Hero Skill Trainers there). You won't level as quickly or get quite as much gold, but I think that it's worth it. You could always just play until Lion's Arch and move your character to Factions too.

Um, just one little warning:
The Eye of the North expansion will be coming out on the 31st, so expect the whole of Guild wars to, er, migrate there for a bit. But that's just temporary. |

With the Hall of Monuments, though, I'm thinking that at least a few will still be around doing various things and probably a few doing missions and such for the Protector title.
